In St James City, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Florida, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.
No hours are on file. If you plan a visit, phone first or check the Google Maps link on this page for the latest times. You can reach Ritter Palm Farm at (239) 600-8088; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
It has a Google rating of 5.0 out of 5, though from only 2 reviews so far, so treat the score as an early indication rather than a verdict.
St James City is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around St James City is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Florida's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This is THE place to go for Palms. Normal palms, exotic palms, big palms and small! You might encounter a selection of other exotic plants. I heard that the Ritter Farm was honored and proud to provide Royal Palms to a very well-known, world famous entertainment park in Central Florida, which will remain nameless. But you know this place...Everyone has been there! So, if you want the palms sought out by the .01%'ers, this is where they go!

Best place to go to for your palms! Sam is a super great guy! Very nice and full of information on every palm type there is. Rows of beautiful trees. His land is very clean, easy to walk down the isles. He has spent a lot of time and effort recouping his land after hurricane Ian made devastation. He takes pride in his business and is a very humble human being. He's even swung by our house a few times just checking in to make sure our palms were still in great shape after transportation and installation! To add onto the wonderful experience; you will get to meet his brown lab side kick and full time helper Shiloh. Thank you Sam and Shiloh!
